ESTUDIO 36
lover of clay and coffee
Well, I’m originally from Ontario, Canada, but I’ve spent more than half my life living and working outside of Canada – mainly in Asia and Europe.
In 2013 I moved to San Sebastian and in collaboration with 2 other friends, opened Kafe Botanika, a well-known cafe in the city. That was a special project.
In 2016 I began doing pottery as a hobby and completely fell in love with the process.
In 2021 I went back to Canada to study ceramics intensively at the Haliburton School of Art and Design in Ontario – located in the middle of a forest, next to a lake. I was in pottery paradise.
After completing this program, I returned to San Sebastian. Where I had the incredible opportunity to take over an existing pottery studio which I turned into lisap cerámica and later estudio36.
The studio has a very special energy – located just 7 minutes by bus from the center of San Sebastian – it’s my little piece of pottery paradise in the Basque Country which I love sharing with others.

I love to make small pieces on the wheel that you can hold in your hand. My work is inspired by the qualities of nature and the changing of the seasons.
I love using whimsical pine needle designs in my pieces and creating textures which remind me of all the beautiful places I have lived and traveled to.
I love glaze chemistry. I love making my own glazes and applying oxide washes and slips to pieces. My style is minimalistic – inspired by Nordic design. I feel like with every piece I create, there is a transfer of energy.. I imagine each piece slowly making its way into a person’s daily life, bringing a sense of comfort and calm.
I hope you can feel the good energy that comes from each of my handmade pieces. Some of my cups/bowls are being used in my favorite cafes and restaurants in San Sebastian – you just have to turn over the piece and look for lisap – my signature stamp:)
